Rules and Regulations for beta testers
In order to beta test V2 you must agree to the following:
- You will not pass on your licence information to any other user, or publish it on-line.
- You agree to join the Beta testers mailing list.
- You agree to talk about the beta app and report bugs or enhancement requests only on the mailing list - i.e. not on the AstroPlanner Yahoo Group.
- You agree to report bugs using the built-in bug reporting mechanisms, the mailing list, or via private e-mail with the developer.
- You understand that this is prerelease software and it might have negative effects on your computer (e.g. deleting files and folders inadvertantly, freezing up your computer, etc.). You should make sure you have a good backup before using the V2 application, particularly of your V1.x files.
- You understand that, at least initially, there is little or no documentation for the V2 application. You'll be on your own to figure out the differences between V1 and V2, although you are always free to ask questions on the mailing list.
What is expected of a beta tester
As a beta tester, what you are doing primarily is testing all aspects of the application looking for bugs or inconsistencies, and reporting them so that they can get fixed. If you report a bug, you'll be notified when it's fixed, and you are encouraged to test again to see if the bug is fixed. You are also looking for cosmetic problems (i.e. things that don't look right, but do not affect the operation of the app), and are always welcome to offer your comments or criticism about feates that don't work as expected, are deficient in some way, or could be improved or extended.
Note that the feature set is closed during beta. i.e. no additional features will be added, unless they are trivial and compelling
We understand that you are doing this voluntarily, and we don't expect you to spend long hours testing, or trying to test each and every feature. Every little bit counts.
